The “meet-cute” took place at a quirky bar in Santa Clara during 1L orientation week. Seb was chatting with the only other person Bre knew, so naturally Bre inserted herself into their conversation (she didn’t have anyone else to talk to!). Seb happened to be talking about a bunch of random trivia-sounding knowledge (so shocking of Seb!), and skeptical-Bre challenged him with some fact checking. Unfortunately for Bre, Seb happened to be spewing facts. Fortunately for Bre, however, the fact-spewing gentleman offered to leave the event early and give Bre a ride home as she had an early flight the next morning.

On the first day of classes, they found out that they were in the same “section,” which allowed for them to get to know each other quickly through some study sessions and study breaks. They also started building a closer bond as each other's main support systems when pushing through all the “wtf-moments” of that first semester. Eventually they discovered that studying together was not the play (too much disruptive flirting), however the time together away from the books stayed.

Throughout the following four years of time together, with love and (sometimes a lot of) patience, they have pushed through a few more “wtf-moments” relating to adulting and learning how to be the best team. They’re deciding now to “make it official” and look forward to conquering any future “wtf-moments” of marriage and starting a family together.

We found a way to get Married during the height of COVID-19, now we want to share our union with you.

Our Wedding Story

As we began planning for our wedding, we were told by many that the upcoming planning year would be stressful and perhaps full of surprise. We’ve learned a lot throughout the wedding planning process – namely, to embrace flexibility, be open to changes, be thankful, focus on what’s most important, and trust in God and our family and friends. We also fully understand that we cannot control our lives as much as we think we can.

After Seb’s proposal in October 2020, we began to plan – but as more and more reports popped up in March 2020 that the novel coronavirus had made its way to the U.S., we hoped and prayed that all would be clear by the time a 2021 wedding would take place. Our priest, Father Kyle, assured us that he’d do anything in his power to ensure our sacrament could happen, even if our wedding didn’t necessarily look the way we or the church had planned.

Up to the day we exchanged vows, we planned for different wedding options, and as time passed, we finally decided to focus on our sacrament of marriage and making sure that it could happen above all things.

When California (and the Mission Santa Clara) opened for masked, 6’-apart, and under 20-person (including the bride, groom and priest) weddings, we saw this as an extra blessing and pivoted. Witnessed by our parents, siblings, surviving grandmothers (Lola Blanca, Grandma Elena, and Grandma Pat, and the long distance support from Nonna Carla in Switzerland) and a handful of other close family members, we were able to have our nuptial wedding Mass on April 17, 2021. Afterward, we had a small dinner atop the Silicon Valley Capital Club, but missed those “firsts” that should have been… such as witness of our first kiss as “husband and wife,” our first dance as a married couple, and the toasts from our family and friends.

We prayed for a wedding day and marriage more beautiful than we could ever imagine, and our nuptial Mass and special day were certainly that. Now we’re a year into married life, and are looking forward to a lifetime to go ~ but first we want to celebrate our marriage with you! We cannot imagine starting this new chapter without those that have had a significant impact in our lives and so, we ask that you join us at the Harbor and Sky Rooftop Terrace in San Diego on September 4, 2022 beginning at 6 pm. We plan to “party” like its 4/17/21! Your presence will allow us to tell our kids about “how we got married in a pandemic and celebrated twice!”
